What are nachos? To those who are not chronically online, we’re referring to something that’s technically not food. On TikTok and X (and when they catch up in a few weeks, Reels), nachos represent a body of artistic work and an aesthetic — whether that of another artist’s or one’s own. They are albums, music videos, films, fashion moments, books, trends, viral moments, and more.
“Nachos” all started, as most internet trends do nowadays, on TikTok. In a clip from an episode of Zeus Network television show Baddies, in which reality TV personalities and rappers Natalie Nunn and Stunna Girl converse about co-existing in the Baddies house. As the two chat, Stunna Girl is enjoying a large plate of actual nachos and Nunn can be seen constantly glancing at the plate. In December 2023, the TikTok account @baddiesfunny posted the scene overlaid with generic royalty-free music and the phrase, “you can tell natalie lowkey wanted stunna girls nachos.” Soon after, nachos took the world by storm.
Throughout the first few months of 2025, we no longer simply want someone else’s nachos, we are now reheating them. To reheat someone else’s nachos is the 2025 equivalent of the “Can I copy your homework?” meme. To reheat nachos is to seemingly recycle elements of a former body of work (either your own or someone else’s) and use it in your own. The idea of wanting someone else’s “nachos” has made its way across the web, spawning viral tweet after viral tweet. Artists and creators everywhere were accused of wanting someone else’s nachos, from Beyoncé’s to those of Luigi Mangione.
And just last week on SNL, Lady Gaga — accused nacho reheater — suggested that it’s perhaps time to retire the meme and phrase entirely. If now is the time to say goodbye to nachos, here are five examples of this meme done right. Kudos to the extremely online people coming up with these jokes:
Lady Gaga, noted time traveler: Some fans of Lady Gaga’s latest and now viral single “Abracadabra” exclaimed that she reheated her “Judas” and “Alejandro” nachos, but rather than using a microwave and the chips coming out soggy, she popped them in the air fryer and they came out delicious. Other fans actually think she went back in time and took her nachos fresh out of the oven.
Beyoncé, the entire tortilla industry: Sometimes, artists are above nachos and they’re certainly not taking anybody else’s. For example, to the Bey Hive, Beyoncé is bigger than what’s on the plate.
Donna Summer, holder of the original nachos recipe: The nachos of the legendary Donna Summer have been reheated time and time again, to the point of being burnt to a crisp.
Dionne Warwick, asking the question many are thinking: Some have taken to asking artists how they feel about having nachos reheated, much to the artist’s confusion. Luckily for Dionne Warwick, a fan was ready to explain what the phrase means.
Rihanna, please make some music again: And some people are actively asking artists to reheat their old nachos. Rihanna please, reheat your own nachos, at this point we don’t even care which ones.
