One of the Boston area’s hottest new bakeries was tapped to send hundreds of chocolates to a celebrity-studded Oscars event this past weekend.

Chef Thiago Silva, the owner of Salt Patisserie in Newton Centre, sent over 600 gold-tinted bonbons to the Gold Party, Jay-Z’s annual Oscars bash that takes place after the awards ceremony, according to a behind-the-scenes video that the chef posted on Instagram. Silva tells Eater that the bonbons were filled with cognac-infused dark chocolate ganache and paired with the party’s Gold Fashioned cocktail — a riff on an Old Fashioned — at the Oscars event.

A rep for the cognac (D’ussé, a Jay-Z-backed brand) reached out to Silva with the opportunity, according to the chef.

Silva is no stranger to celebrity order requests: The pastry chef’s past customers have included John Legend and Derek Jeter, according to Boston.com. Silva’s spent time in front of the camera, too, as a winning contestant on food competition shows including Beat Bobby Flay and Chopped.

Silva opened his first pastry shop last summer in Newton Centre. The whimsical spot mixes classic baked goods like butter croissants and kouign amann with Rocher eclairs (an elongated take on a Ferrero Rocher truffle), individual “pick-me-up” tiramisu servings, and several flavors of bite-sized bonbons.
