As food trucks in Austin open seemingly every week, Eater is here to keep track of the best new ones everyone should know about. With that, here is every brand new food trucks that have opened in Austin so far in 2023, listed in reverse chronological order.

December 2023

PILOT KNOB — New far southeast bar Drinks Backyard welcomed a new food in early December. Brewski’s Grill serves burgers, chicken wings, and more. (6328 South Highway 183)

CONROY PARK — Midwestern food-focused truck Schnitzy’s opened in early December at the Way South Food Truck Park, serving pork tenderloin schnitzel sandwiches and Dole whips. (11300 Old San Antonio Road)

WESTGATE — Lauded Mexican seafood truck El Marisquero moved from East Austin into this South Austin neighborhood in early December. (2056 West Stassney Lane)


November 2023

EAST AUSTIN — Growing taco food truck chain TacoWey opened a new location at the Liberty in late November. (1618 East Sixth Street)

BOULDIN CREEK — A new Mexican truck with all sorts of birria-laden dishes and tacos, Los Galanes Birrias & Tacos, opened in mid-November. (331 South First Street)

SUNSET VALLEY — San Diego-styled Mexican food truck Daygos opened its first of two relocation at the Nomadic Outpost in mid-November, with its burritos and tacos. (3505 Country White Lane)

SOUTH LAMAR — Fried seafood truck RadFish relocated to record shore End of an Ear in mid-November with fish and shrimp tacos and sandwiches. (4304 Clawson Road)

HARDROCK CANYON — A new sweets truck opened in the North Austin neighborhood in early November. The Bougie Foodie serves up decadent desserts like cookie butter Rice Krispies, boozy bread pudding, and caramel bars. (5002 Hamilton Road)


October 2023

MCKINNEY — So when South Lamar coffee shop and bar Radio expanded with its second location in southeast Austin, Radio/East, it brought along three food trucks. The first of these is an expansion of the always-excellent Veracruz All Natural with tacos and the such, in mid-October. (3504 Montopolis Drive)

MCKINNEY — And then, second of the three at the new Radio/East as of mid-October is a second location of its in-house food truck Shortwave Diner with burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches etc. (3504 Montopolis Drive)

MCKINNEY — Lastly of the new Radio/East trucks is a pizza slice-dedicated one from also-in-McKinney food truck Side Eye Pie. The new Side Eye Slice serves up its slices as of mid-October. (3504 Montopolis Drive)

MCKINNEY — South Lamar coffee shop and bar Radio opened its second location in southeast Austin, aka Radio/East, with its usual drinks array plus food trucks in mid-October. (3504 Montopolis Drive)

NORTHEAST AUSTIN — Austin barbecue restaurant Interstellar BBQ opened a new taco truck in mid-October, though it had been operating as a pop-up before then. Yellow Bell Tacos owner John Bates is creating South Texas-style tacos. (10300 Springdale Road)

CENTRAL EAST AUSTIN — A new bagel business opened both a new cafe and food truck in mid-October. For the latter, Muzzy’s Bagels’ food truck is parked at Outer Heaven Disco Club with late-night burger bagels on the weekends. (1808 East 12th Street)

DAWSON — Mexican food truck La Taquicardia opened a fourth truck at South Austin hotel the Colton House at some point in October, with tacos and brunch. (2510 South Congress Avenue)

CONROY PARK — A new Thai truck, Oui Thai Kitchen, opened in late October at the Way South Food Truck Park. (11300 Old San Antonio Road)


September 2023

NORTH LOOP — New pizzeria truck Feral Pizza opened in late September serving up thin-crust and grandma pie-style pizzas along with house-made sweets. (500 East 51st Street)

PILOT KNOB — When far southeast bar Drinks Backyard opened in late September, it included a new location of barbecue truck Smokin’ Brew-B-Q. (6328 South Highway 183)

BOULDIN CREEK — A former Kome/Uroko chef opened his own Japanese food truck dedicated to temaki. Little Nishi, run by Joel Taylor, offers hand rolls and sashimi at the Ira’s and Bev’s Food Truck Park as of mid-September.

LEANDER — A new roaming food truck focused on Philly cheesesteaks, the Boss Cheesesteak, opened in early September with in sandwiches both hot and cold, wraps, and sandwiches.

CHESTNUT — Austin vegan truck Mission Burger Co. expanded with a second location at Zeds Ice Cream in late September. (1814 Harvey Street)

PILOT KNOBS — Barbecue truck Smokin’ Brew-B-Q opened its second location as part of Drinks Lounge/Little Drinks Lounge’s new third bar Drinks Backyard in late September. (6328 South US-183 Highway)

NORTH AUSTIN — As part of bar Bouldin Acresexpansion up north, it brought along a second location of barbecue truck CM Smokehouse in mid-September. (1806 West Braker Lane)

EAST AUSTIN — Farmers market salsa stand and pop-up Que Sazon opened its first food truck in early September within the patio of bars/venues Volstead Lounge and Hotel Vegas. Clandestino serves up Mexican dishes such as tacos, tostadas, quesadillas, and tacos dorados. (1500 East Sixth Street)

ZILKER — Growing burger spot JewBoy Burgers opened its latest truck outside of the Gibson Street Bar in early September, taking over the spot formerly belonging to Vietnamese-Southern truck Bisous and sandwich truck Luke’s Inside Out. The menu focuses on its sliders and latkes. (1109 South Lamar Boulevard)

BOULDIN CREEK — Beijing chocolate company and bakery Kesshō relocated into Austin, opening a sweets truck with chocolate bars and gelato in early September, with single-origin chocolates and Asian-ish flavors like milk tea and yuzu. (601 West Live Oak Street)

EAST CONGRESS — Austin food truck mini-chain Spicy Boys opened a new truck focused on smash burgers. Patty Palace debuted in early September, parked at St. Elmo Brewing Co., alongside one of the other Spicy Boys locations. (440 East St Elmo Road)

FAR SOUTH AUSTIN — Sunset Valley cafe Stouthaus Coffee Pub opened a food truck within the Thicket Food Truck Park in early September. (7800 South First Street)


August 2023

CENTRAL EAST AUSTIN — Outstanding Austin truck Cuantos Tacos expanded with a new truck dedicated to hamburguesas (Mexican-style burgers), Cuantas Hamburguesas, in late August, found within the same Arbor Food Truck park. (1108 East 12th Street)

RIVERSIDE — UT Austin freshman Longhorn football player Deandre Moore opened a new food truck with his mother, chef Taleea Moore, focused on foods made with turkeys. Jive Turkey opened in late August. (1637 East Riverside Drive)

FAR SOUTH AUSTIN — Austin truck CJ’s Tacos opened a second location in mid-August at the Thicket Austin food truck park, serving lots of tacos. (7800 South First Street)

ANDERSON MILL — New snowball truck Fairy Freeze opened with a variety of frozen sweets in late August, as reported by Community Impact. It temporarily closed for the season in late October. (12233 North Road to Market 620)

CAMPUS — A UT Austin alum opened the Big Taquito in mid-August, serving various taquitos, tacos, and quesadillas. (100 West Dean Keeton Street)

CONROY PARK — Sweets truck BlastCups opened in mid-August at the Way South Food Truck Park with cakes-in-cups and savory dishes. (11300 Old San Antonio Road)

GOVALE — New food truck Lynny’s opened in early August with a diner-ish food menu with dishes like pancakes, biscuit sandwiches, and grilled cheeses. (705 Gunter Street)


July 2023

TARRYTOWN — Since Fleet’s truck left the Littlefield space (see below), Cookie Rich chef and owner Lorin Peters opened a new casual daytime truck, Goldy’s, at the address with biscuit sandwiches and paninis, in late July. (2401 Winsted Lane)

CHERRYWOOD — Great East Austin cafe Fleet moved its former Littlefield truck in Tarrytown onto Manor Road in late July. (2806 Manor Road)

EAST CESAR CHAVEZ — Mexican taco truck La Taquicardia expanded with its third location within the Inn Cahoot’s alfresco Austin Garden & Studio space in late July. (1221 East Sixth Street)

FAR SOUTH AUSTIN — After CBD coffee shop Radix closed its physical location on Menchaca Road, it reopened its coffee truck in mid-July. (3008 West Slaughter Lane)


June 2023

NORTH AUSTIN — San Antonio company Durden Food Group and Austin Italian restaurant owner Tony DeStefano (of the forthcoming Sapori Italian Roots) opened the Filipino food truck Pogi in late June at Celis Brewery. The menu features lumpia and American- and Mexican-fusion dishes, take sisig tacos, a smash burger, and elotes. (10001 Metric Boulevard)

FAR SOUTH AUSTIN — Luis Felez, a chef from Barcelona, opened Austhentico in Austin with a focus on Spanish sandwiches, paellas, and tapas like tortillas espanola and patata bravas and bombas, in mid-June. (10616 Old Manchaca Road)

BOULDIN CREEK — New Japanese food truck Highway Hibachi opened in the South Austin Trailer Park in mid-June, serving rice plates with entrees like chicken, steak, and tofu, as well as dumplings. (1311 South First Street)

ROSEDALE — New food truck Asado’s Taqueria opened in mid-August with Mission-style burritos and tacos in mid-June (1309 West 45th Street)

CONROY PARK — New Mexican truck Calaveras Tacos y Mas opened in mid-June at the Way South Food Truck Park, serving up Matamoros-style tacos, tortas, quesadillas, and more. (11300 Old San Antonio Road)

NORTH CAMPUS — Within campus bar Tweedy’s is a new second location of po’ boy sandwich truck Dream Po Boy’s as of early June. The menu includes po’ boys, fries, burgers, tacos, and more. (2908 Fruth Street) [Ed. note: the truck is temporarily closed now.]


May 2023

CONROY PARK — The first tenant of the Way South Food Truck Park is the Doxa Coffee Roasters truck as of mid-July, with coffee, tea, pastries, gelato, and affogato. (11300 Old San Antonio Road)

THE DOMAN — New Mexican truck Suculenta Cocina Mexicana opened in late May with loaded breakfast chips and chilaquiles, lunch and dinner enchiladas, salads, and tacos, plus much more. (3225 Amy Donovan Plaza)

DOMAIN — Japanese food truck Wagyu Yume opened in mid-May with a menu centered on wagyu beef, from rice bowls to corn cooked in wagyu fat. (3225 Amy Donovan Plaza)

FAR SOUTH AUSTINKerlaches, the barbecue kolache-dedicated truck from the owners of the now-former Kerlin BBQ, expanded with a second location in late May. It’s found within the Thicket Austin food truck park with kolaches stuffed with smoked meats, vegetables, and cheeses. (7800 South First Street)

DRIPPING SPRINGS — Austin bakery Teal House Coffee brought back its food truck in the Hill Country city in late May at Fair Lane Cocktails and Coffee, with those cinnamon rolls. (29035 Ranch Road 12) [Ed. note: the truck has since closed in July.]

CHERRYWOOD — A speakeasy cocktail bar popped up at Progress Coffee in mid-May. Visitant Social Club features four different cocktails each evening and can be accessed by ringing the doorbell outside of the trailer, but keep in mind that the space is tiny. (3421 North I-35)

FAR SOUTH AUSTIN — A new Mexican food truck, Corazón Azul, opened in mid-May at Thirsty Planet brewery by someone who worked part-time up at another Mexican truck Con Todo, with quesadillas, huraches, tlacoyes, and more. (8201 South Congress Avenue) [Ed. note: the truck appears to be temporarily closed now.]

RIVERSIDE — Brushy Creek Mexican food truck Tacos La Catrina expanded with a second location in South Austin in early May. It serves up all sorts of tacos and quesadillas with birria, fajitas, chicken, steak, and more. (1620 East Riverside Drive)

NORTH CAMPUSFormer vegan restaurant Counter Culture has returned in the form of a food truck parked also at Tweedy’s in early May. It’s open for dinner with vegan burritos, bowls, and more. (2908 Fruth Street) [Ed. note: the truck closed in November with the goal of opening a new physical location.]

EAST OAK HILL — A new food truck with Nepalese and Indian food, Darsan Namaste, opened in early May with curries, momos, samosas, and more. (6511 Brush Country Road)

SOUTHEAST AUSTIN — New coffee truck Cenizo opened in early May with coffee, espresso drinks, iced horchata lattes, cafe de ollas, pastries, and more. (7701 Colton-Bluff Springs Road)

DOMAIN — New South Indian truck Dosa Labs opened in early May, serving the namesake dish as well as Texas-Indian fusion items like chicken tikka nachos and paratha melts. (10901 Domain Drive)


April 2023

CEDAR PARK — Farmers market stand Rogues Over the Top Pierogi opened a food truck in late April, with those pierogi loaded or plain as well as tacos with pierogi, at the beer shop Brewtique. (401 Cypress Creek Road, Suite 100)

EAST RIVERSIDE — A new truck slinging Detroit-style pizza opened at the Buzz Mill in mid-April. Bat City Pies offers thick pies topped with cheese, meats, vegetables, and more, plus salads, meatballs, and stuffed peppers. (1505 Town Creek Drive)

FAR SOUTH AUSTIN — Austin doughnut truck Gourdough’s opened a second location in mid-April. (10700 Menchaca Road, Suite B)

FAR SOUTH AUSTIN — The Austin location of national food truck chain the Corn Dog Company expanded with a second truck (which is now its sole remaining truck in the city as of October). It’s found at the South Austin Beer Garden as of early April, as reported by Community Impact. (10700 Menchaca Road)


March 2023

ROUND ROCK — A new Filipino truck focused on roast pig opened in late March. Yammy’s FIlipino Letchon serves roasted whole pig and roasted pork belly, as well as pancit palabok (rice noodles with pork and shrimp) and crispy pata (crispy pork leg). (4257 Gattis School Road)

EAST AUSTIN — Food trucks Golden Tiger (fried chicken sandwiches) and Golden Castle (sliders) opened a new truck in early March at the Liberty. Golden Grill serves up all sorts of fries, burgers, hot dogs, and deep-fried chicken wings. (1618 East Sixth Street) [Ed. note: the truck appears to be closed since at least November.]

CEDAR PARK — Leander Eastern European market Ziggy’s Kielbasa House opened a food truck in early March, as reported by Community Impact. It sells sandwiches, pierogi, and more. (2301 Brushy Creek Road) [Ed. note: the truck appears to be temporarily closed now.]

EAST AUSTIN — A new poke truck popped up in early March and has since moved to a new location. Wow Poke first opened within the eastern part of the Holly neighborhood, and then relocated into new East Austin bar Lovebirds in early May. (2337 East Cesar Chavez Street)


February 2023

FAR NORTH AUSTIN — Greek-Mexican fusion truck Ziki is continuing its rapid expansion with a truck in the Hamilton food truck park, as reported by Community Impact, in February. It serves burritos, bowls, and other items. (5002 Hamilton Road)


January 2023

RIVERSIDE — Since Plow Burger closed, there’s a new burger spot at Buzz Mill on Riverside. Buzz Burger serves meat and vegan burgers, fries, and other sandwiches. (1505 Town Creek Drive)

MCKINNEY — A new food truck slinging sandwiches has landed at southeast Austin’s Meanwhile Brewing in January. Songbird’s menu includes four fried chicken sandwiches, a patty melt, and a vegetable sandwich. (3901 Promontory Point Drive)

GEORGETOWNZiki opened a Georgetown truck in early January. (1003 West University Avenue)
