North Carolina-based fried chicken chain Bojangles hops on the hard [insert non-alcoholic beverage here] trend with its own line of boozed-up sweet tea. The Southern biscuit chain teamed up with Boone-based Appalachian Mountain Brewery to bring the restaurant’s famous sweet tea into the 21+ realm. The result of the collaboration, Bojangles Hard Sweet Tea, will become available this March.

The boozy beverage will not be sold in Bojangles restaurants, but in retailers like Circle K, Sheetz, Harris Teeter, Walmart, Food Lion, and other stores across North and South Carolina.

Bojangles has a rabid following across Southern states, where it’s a go-to quick family meal, easy breakfast, or hangover cure — will this translate into beverage sales? Will fans of the sweet tea want to get a buzz along with the sugar rush? Will Bojangles Hard Sweet Tea become the most iconic tailgate beverage in the South? And more importantly, how does it pair with the fried chicken and seasoned fries?
