This busy Chinese restaurant off the Strip serves some of Vegas’s top dim sum, with carts roving through the dining room all day long with bites like pork shumai, shrimp har gow (shrimp dumpling in rice flour wrapping), and chicken feet. At dinner, crab claw and roasted duck ($9.28 each) make the most expensive items on the menu. Open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. In a more residential neighborhood, the same restaurant family owns Dim Sum Cafe (3700 South Hualapai Way) with a menu of dumplings and more with prices starting at $3.15. The stuffed eggplant and pan-fried chive dumpling are among the most requested dishes.

The creator of Hakkasan and Wagamama introduces a new dim sum restaurant to the Fontainebleau. One of the most striking restaurant on the Las Vegas Strip, Washing Potato feels like dining on a cruise ship in a black box theater. The dining room is on an elevated platform, with views into both open kitchens where cooks steam and roll hundreds of dumplings. The white furnishing are off-set by black walls, both serving as backdrops to the swirling light shows that play out on the walls, floors, and celings. The modern design works to highlight the excellent traditional fare served inside, with steamed prawn and chive dumplings, char siu pineapple buns, taro croquettes, and venison puffs, 

Chinatown’s ShangHai taste threw open its doors in December 2019, just a few months before the pandemic restrictions shut down dining. In its cozy dining room, a pristine open kitchen turns out fresh xiao long bao (pork-and-crab soup dumpling) and more. For the best view of the action, book one of the six seats in the kitchen.

Service can be hit or miss at this Chinese spot on Spring Mountain Road, but strolling push carts filled with classic dim sum dishes like shu mai, har gow, and baos, as well as large portions, make up for it. It gets busy, so prepare for a wait.

Chef Kenny Chye has been offering vegan and vegetarian Chinese food to the Vegas area for a while, and the latest addition to his family of restaurants is a vegan dim sum concept that steps away from the traditional pork and shrimp-heavy classic dim sum dishes in favor of items like steamed pork buns made with soy products, squash, and mushroom for a deeply umami bite.

After a two-year hiatus, the Palms reopened in April 2022 along with Tim Ho Wan (which has the distinction as the world’s least expensive Michelin-starred restaurant) and a dim sum menu that leaps from the traditional with fried shrimp toast with black truffle and foie gras sauce, steamed wagyu bundle with green apple, alongside barbecue pork buns and sticky rice in lotus leaf.

This small, intimate restaurant serves roasted meats, Chinese hot pot, and handmade dim sum. Order a number of dishes to share with the table like whole Peking duck, Chinese soup dumplings topped with black truffle, and stir-fried lobster. Wash it down with the Golden Lotus cocktail, which combines gin and lychee with a blooming jasmine flower tea.

Yum Cha, which translates to “drink tea,” offers a selection of Chinese teas such as jasmine or oolong alongside its daily dim sum offerings like Chinese churros, steamed pork ribs, potstickers, and more. Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and until 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
