Suga’s Cheese Shoppe and Cafe is now open on Marietta Street in the city of Powder Springs, 20 miles northwest of Atlanta. Owned by chef Stacey “Suga” West, the menu for the cafe features dishes centered around the Southern cheese spread.

West first launched the business as Suga’s Pimento Cheeses in 2017, selling a variety of pimento cheese flavors, like black truffle, pesto and feta, and bacon asiago, at farmers markets and local shops around metro Atlanta. The chef says opening the cafe and shop in Powder Springs was a “logical step” in the evolution of the business, which serves and sells Suga’s 12 pimento cheese flavors (four of which are vegan.)

Look for charcuterie and pimento cheese plates and entrees incorporating the cheese spread, including shrimp scampi with pesto and feta pimento cheese, a burger topped with black truffle pimento cheese, and smoked gouda mac and pimento cheese balls on the menu. A vegan burger comes topped with alfalfa sprouts, black bean hummus tomato jam, and Suga’s vegantastic pimento cheese. There’s pimento cheese cheesecake and cookies for dessert.

In addition to selling batches of Suga’s pimento cheeses, the Powder Springs shop also carries pickles, jams, a selection of snacks, and other pantry items.

Prior to starting the pimento cheese business with husband Robert and son Quinton Jones, who is also a chef, West worked at metro Atlanta restaurants like the Hil at Serenbe under former chef and owner Hilary White and for Georgia Grown, the marketing and economic development arm of the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
