Hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving, and that you found some time to relax. Maybe that has included some Black Friday shopping, which, these days, begins well before the Friday after Thanksgiving and extends through to Cyber Monday. I know I intend to purchase a Zojirushi rice cooker on sale. But if you don’t know where to start — or if there’s nothing practical that you’re looking to buy this year — I put together this list of some just-for-fun, gifty items discounted for Black Friday this year.
And if you’re full-tilt into Christmas mode generally, you may be interested to know that the British catchall store Marks & Spencer now has a 15-item collection at Target full of holiday chocolates, biscuits, and commemorative tins. For those unfamiliar with Marks & Spencer, or simply unsure why they should care about this first-time collab, this piece from Rachel P. Kreiter is essential reading. “If you’re about to waste your money on things you don’t really need,” Kreiter writes, “it’s pretty good, this M&S stuff.” Happy shopping.

The Susan Alexandra tinned fish necklace in this gift guide full of food-themed things to wear is 30 percent off right now for Black Friday.
-
This watermelon “Nosh” menorah is, sadly, an exclusion to the Susan Alexandra sale, but it is still pretty cool.
-
MILF and DILF hats from barware brand Mover and Shaker telegraph the messages “Man I Love Fernet” and “Dude I Love Fernet.” Obviously.
- For the person who hasn’t moved on from
espresso martinis, a kit from Gail Simmons and Cocktail Courier. For that same person, Punch also has this guide to coffee liqueur.
- Staub pots and pans (at least the ones sold at Williams-Sonoma) are now available in a new shade. The
soft lilac is pretty enough to hope it doesn’t get messed up with wear, but when you’re spending $230 on an enameled cast-iron gratin pan, it’s best to use it regardless of the aesthetic consequences.

You’ll want these realistic food candles
for your next holiday table. Just look at this cake.

Salt & Straw and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson are auctioning off three ice cream advent calendars via eBay on Tuesday. Proceeds from the sales of the mini fridges, stocked with 12 pints of ice cream, will go to World Central Kitchen. (Giving Tuesday, as you’ll recall, follows Cyber Monday.) The flavors are a mystery, but if you don’t win, note that there are quite a few holiday-appropriate flavors available for order on the Salt & Straw site.
That’s all for this week. If you liked this email, please forward it to a friend. — Monica |
