What are people wearing right now? It’s been a refrain over the past year-plus. Essentially, every time the season changes, I’m at a loss as to what I should be wearing in public to do things like see friends and go to restaurants. And lately, in New York at least, the hard-to-get reservation is back, and with it the feeling that I should be making some kind of effort if I’m lucky enough to score a table.
But this week, I found some shopping inspiration in Best Dressed, Dayna Evans’s new Eater column that asks precisely that question of people who seem to know what they’re doing in the dressing department, as they dine out at some of the country’s hottest tables. For the first installment, Evans went to Wenwen in Brooklyn, a Taiwanese restaurant helmed by Eric Sze, a member of Eater’s New Guard. After reading and gazing at the gorgeous photos by Christian Rodriguez, I’m seriously considering the Agolde leather pants that interviewee Patricia is wearing (they’re on sale!) — and I’m looking forward to finding out what else future fashionable diners may convince me to buy.

The BruTank, the Perfect Cosmo by SJP, and a piece of Taco Bell luggage. |

Also on Eater last week, Amy McCarthy talked to Martin Riese, a certified water sommelier, about how to shop for bottled water. His chief recommendation for sustainability is to buy a refillable bottle instead, but for those times when that’s not a possibility, there are a few key factors to consider.
This cooler from drinkware brand Brumate is apparently gaining steam on TikTok thanks to a compartment with a built-in tap, seemingly designed to hold mixed drinks. The BruTank also has a built-in bottle opener, for those who prefer beer.
Tis the season for canned beverages, perfect for stocking coolers without a drink tank. Jumo, a new sparkling soju cocktail, launched this past week with three flavors.
Sarah Jessica Parker has lent her name to a canned cosmo. The Perfect Cosmo by SJP is actually one of a few celebrity-designed drinks from new premixed cocktail brand Thomas Ashbourne. John Cena has an Old Fashioned, Playboi Carti has a vodka drink called the Hardscatto, and Rosario Dawson, Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashley Benson teamed up for a margarita. But when it comes to the trustworthiness of these celebrity endorsements, the cosmo is the only one I’ll get behind.
In other celebrity-brand-collab news: Our Place has a new Selena Gomez collection consisting of six existing Our Place products in two new shades: azul, a bold blue, and rosa, a vibrant magenta. Ten percent of net proceeds will go to the Rare Impact Fund, an offshoot of Gomez’s Rare Beauty that funds mental health services for young people.
Shake Shack has partnered with Apotheke on a scented candle duo. It’s an unexpected move for Apotheke, which is generally known for luxury fragrances, but it makes me think the scents might actually be good? -
One last partnership to consider for any summer travel coming up: Calpak has teamed up with Taco Bell on a set of luggage that’s sure to stand out at baggage claim. The pieces are themed around the four levels of Taco Bell sauce and are, of course, geared toward the die-hard Taco Bell fan. But I think the “hot” duffel could work even for the person who is only a mild Taco Bell fan.
